Back to School!!

The smell of school bus emissions, mystery meat from the cafeteria, and backpacks is in the air.

It can only mean one thing...its back to school time!!!

My sweet Bailey girl started Kindergarten in August and I'm just now adjusting to all my free time. :) Having her in school all day is definitely bittersweet. I miss my sweet girl and can't believe how long she is gone everyday, but its really nice having two hours of complete quiet time when my little Tasmanian devil (Olivia) naps.

Check out this picture of my BIG girl getting on the school bus to go away to college, I mean Kindergarten.

This was the second day of school. Don't even get me started on the first day of school. Lets just say it did not go as smoothly as the second...both of us were a mess...a complete mess and we have a great story for the scrapbook! But we learned that Kindergarten is not the end of the world and actually, we've both learned to love it. Bailey said she'd stay there longer everyday if she could!

Hey, wait a minute...should I take offense to that?!?!

And off she goes...

I decided to take the week off from cakes for Labor Day and I'm not quite sure what to do with myself and all the free time! Sooo, today I got to work creating a little back to school teacher gift for Bailey's wonderful teacher Mrs Phillips.

She expressed a need for disinfectant wipes so today Livie and I went shopping together while B was studying hard in Kindergarten and got this big jumbo pack of wipes.

Boooooring!!

I put Livie to bed for a nap and had nothing to do.

Sure there's the laundry, dishwasher to be unloaded and then reloaded, laundry, bed still isn't made, laundry, Charlie (the dog) needs a bath, laundry, weeds to be pulled, laundry, workout, dinner isn't made, laundry...(I guess the list is long if you write it all down), but I was bored and "had nothing to do" so I decorated the wipes container. ;)

(Don't be like me. This is an excellent example of having your priorities a little mixed up)

With just one piece of scrapbook paper and a cute little wooden monkey (50 cents at Hobby Lobby) I created something sooo much more fun for Mrs Phillips! I mean, if you're gonna have to clean up after 22 Kindergarten monkeys you may as well do it in style! :)

Added a little note....This is such a cute easy way to brighten up (and clean up) your teacher's day! :)

Little update...

When Bailey came home from school I showed her the "present" I made for Mrs Phillips. She was very very excited, but clearly stated that she had two teachers and we had to make one for Mrs Willbanks (the assistant teacher) as well. ;)

She's right.....and again, since I have nothing else to do except dilly dally (and had all the supplies to make another one), I made another one.

Hope everyone has a fun, happy and successful school year.

LEARN LOTS KIDS! The future of the WORLD depends on you!!! :)

(no pressure)

Cinderella's Carriage and Cupcakes

This order was for a pink and purple princess party for a little girl who looooves Cinderella. I just adore these little fondant cupcake crown toppers and so do my daughters (they are begging me to make them one).

Cinderella's carriage was so fun to create!!!

Ice Cream Parlor Cookies

These cookies were made for Tracy Allen of Sweet Peach Paperie . She is having an Ice Cream Parlor party for her daughters this weekend and asked me to create cookies that she could use as party favors. She created the most adorable Ice Cream Parlor printable collection to which the cookies were made to match. (check out the sign below)

The cookies were iced with buttercream, topped off with a thin marshmallow fondant circle, then finished off with a border of royal icing.

Nana's 80th Birthday!!!

This past weekened we celebrated my Nana's 80th birthday! Nana is such a sweet and wonderful, fun and hip, smart and nutty, crazy,
young (but technically old) lady!

My parent's threw her a party and I was incharge of the cake.

What I came up with is not the typical birthday cake for an 80 year old. In fact, it looks more like a cake for a 21 year old, but Nana is too cool to have a boring ol' fancy cake...I just couldn't do it. I had to do a spunky, fun, colorful cake to fit her personality (atleast thats the way I see her). :)

The martini glasses were a must. Nana is not a lush, but she does enjoy a good martini. :)

She tries to get me to drink them with her, but I just can't do it.

I've tried to...more than once.

I think they look so fun and cool to drink, but I just can't stand the taste!

(I'm so super lame)

Me, mom and nana. My crazy uncle gave Nana 80 dollar bills all taped together. Poor Nana was so confused. lol "What am I supposed to do with all these?!!"

(I've got a couple of ideas what we could do with a bunch of dollar bills) hehehe

Happy Birthday Nana Banana!!!! We loooooove you!

Farm Animal Cake Pops

These little farm animals were created for Sawyer's first birthday party.

Time consuming, yes. But fun to create, without a doubt!

I spent a lot of time w/ these guys, so much so that I actually named each one...

Get to know the animals on the farm!!

Ok, that was stupid...

You don't have to name your animals, but you should add a cute little barn smash cake to the order and you're good to go. Gotta have a place for the animals to sleep at night...and something for little farmer Sawyer to tear into for his first birthday. :)

Cupcakes cupcakes cupcakes!!

This weekend I had lots of fun with cupcakes! :) Pirates and Hotdogs. Quite a spectrum!

My husband walked in the kitchen when I was putting all the toppers on the cupcakes and he said, "Are those cupcakes for the same party!?!?"

Unfortunately, the answer is no.

I say "unfortunately" b/c that would have definitely won the award for most original party theme! ;)

We've got two different parties goin' on here...a pirate theme for Callaway's 2nd Birthday...

And these little hotdog cupcakes are for a friend of mine who is throwing a hotdog buffet party! HOW FUN!!! I totally want to store that idea away for future use! (I'm thinking a hotdog buffet would be quite appropriate for my next trophy husband party) ;)

Now, I'm craving a mini, bite sized hotdog (not made from sugar)...do they make those?
