Nautical 1st Birthday

Isn't this a beautiful cake?!!?   Sigh...I have to make a confession....it isn't my design. :(  I mean, its my cake, I MADE it, but I didn't design it.  Anderson (that's the birthday boy) has a wonderful mama who scoured the internet for party ideas and found a picture of the cake she wanted, and it looked pretty much exactly the same as this one! ;)  Unfortunately I don't have the source, so I don't know where to give credit, but whoever you are, you designed a pretty cake.  Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Happy Birthday to Mr Walker who is turning the big O-N-E this Saturday!!

Walker is a Sesame Street enthusiast with a real passion for Cookie Monster.  His mama chose a Sesame Street party, emphasis on Cookie.

So here you are...

Cookie's eyes are made out of cake pops.  Bet you had no idea his eyes were so yummy!! ;)

Who took a bite out of the number one???
That was YOU, wasn't it Cookie!?!?!

You didn't think I forgot about Elmo and his buddy Oscar did you?!?!!

Girlly Owl First Birthday

Is the coast clear??? **looks to her left and right**  OK, I'm coming up for air!!! (and a second to chat)

Let me just start off by saying WWSHEW!!!  I have been B-U-S-Y!!! The first few weeks of summer have been nothing but chaos around here. We had a big move the first week in June and when I say big, I mean we moved "like" ALL our stuff out of one house and right back into a new one! ;) What a nightmare huh?!?! ;) lol  It might sound easy enough, but its not (especially when you have as much stuff junk as I do!!).
Then of course I had to spend the next couple of weeks DECORATING my beautiful new abode (whoop whoop!!!).  That was the fun part!  (except when my angelic daughters who are out of school for summer would interrupt me every 2 minutes for a sippy, more food, "Moooooommy, Livie's hitting me and pinching me", someone can't find their shoes, "I need you to wipe my bottom" (atleast she is potty trained!), etc etc

Such is life...it really is wonderful.  :)

Anyway, it was a process...a long, annoying one that I never want to do again, but we're home now.  Settled (junk and all).  Happy.  And baking again.

So, enough of my long boring moving vent and on to pictures of this cute owl cake I recently created for a sweet little girl turning ONE!  Her mama sent me a picture of the printables she was using (pictured above) and wanted the cake to match.  Don't you just LOVE an owl theme!!  One of my favorites for sure. :))

And a cute little owl smash cake for the birthday girl to tear into! :)

Makers Mark Cake

This cake is one that just makes you want to pour a glass of whiskey, doesn't it?!!? ;) (at least that's what I wanted to do while sculpting it) Kidding! No I'm not. Totally serious. Carving cakes makes my head spin sometimes. But it all worked out and in my opinion turned into a pretty cool cake. :))

Made for a rehearsal dinner, the bride wanted to surprise her groom with a Maker's Mark bottle cake.  It needed to serve 70 so I set the bottle on top of a 3 layer 10 inch round barrel cake.  Both cakes were filled w/ butter cream, then iced in a thin layer of butter cream, then another good layer of chocolate ganache, then covered w/ chocolate fondant and last but not least, topped off w/ red candy melts for the "wax" or whatever that Makers Mark bottle stuff is. lol

How yummy was this cake???  Goodness gracious!  Did I make your mouth water at all??  ;)))
Oh, and I used my edible printer and icing sheets for the bottle label. Love that printer! :)

Alvin the CAKE!

This cake was created for my bestest friend Merey's little boy LOGAN who is turned THREEEEEE YEARS OLD on Cinco De Mayo!!!  (what a great birthday huh?!?)

They celebrated this past weekend with an Alvin and the Chipmunks party (emphasis on Alvin who is Logan's favorite chipmunk).  Don't all 3 year olds have a favorite chipmunk?  lol

I couldn't love Merey more! Check out these adorable matching shirts she made let her boys wear for the party!!!
How adorably cute is this family!?!?!
LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday LoLo!!!!!

A cake for Mrs Phillips

Today my daughter's Kindergarten class celebrated their wonderful teacher Mrs Phillips.  Her birthday falls in the summer so a few of us got together a planned a little celebration for her before the school year ends.
This is a cake I've been dying to try out for some time now so today was the perfect opportunity!!  The floating ice cream topper is made from rice krispie treats covered in fondant.  About 1/2 through stacking the ice cream scoops I thought to myself...WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?!  All of a sudden it hit me: I have 8 miles to travel with this thing!!!!!  WHY, out of all the cakes I could have done did I choose the most stressful (to travel with) design!?!?  lol

But I made it.  The 8 mile trip felt like 80 miles, but it got there in one piece.  I'm not sure it survived much longer after I left as all the boys were trying to touch it to find out for themselves if it was REAL ice cream or not!  (poor teacher probably wanted to kill me for the HUGE distraction I brought in!)

Kids are the best!!!  (so is cake)

And if you need a fun teacher present idea try this one out!  I found this idea on pintrest (where else).  I got the parents to chip in $5 towards a gift.  Once I got all the money I headed to the bank, got $105 CRISP DOLLA BILLS, taped them together (end to end) and put them in a tissue box with one dollar bill sticking out, tag reading "Don't blow it all in one place!".  So when you pull on the first dollar bill the second comes out, third, fourth, so on, so on....

According to my daughter the kids got a kick out of it and together the class counted all the bills. One loooong string of 105 one dollar bills.

What do you think she'll do with all those dollar bills???  te-he-he-he-he

So there you go...a fun gift idea (annoying yes, to both the giver and reciever as taping bills and un-taping bills is annoying) but its fun none the less!

Happy Birthday Mrs Phillips!!!
Good teachers like you make the world go round!!!!!!!
