Belle Cake

Every now and then a cake I make catches my little one's eyes.  They see so many cakes come and go that they've become a little more difficult to really impress.  BUT, when my little 3 year old Olivia (she is convinced she is a real princess) came stumbling into the kitchen at 6:30am and saw me working on this one she stopped in her tracks, got bright eyed and said

"MOMMY!  Is that for me?? That is the most beautiful cake.
HOW did you do that!?"

I kinda think she thought I made the Barbie doll too.  Shhhhh.  Don't tell her any different.  I need to be her hero for as long as possible.

And unfortunately it wasn't for her.  Bless her heart.  ;)  But I told her I will make her whatever cake she wants when it comes time for her birthday.  I have a feeling she might want me to "make" a Barbie to put in her cake.  ;))

  1. WOW Kate your cake is gorgeous. What little girl wouldn't want such a MASTERPIECE. The detail is incredible. It looks like you used fondant for the dress. SO beautiful!!! When my daughters were young (a long long long time ago...smile) I just used buttercream. Fondant wasn't that in vogue then. Wish it had been. I now just admire others stunning designs like yours and leave it pretty much to the younger set. Congratulations on a job well done and do make that cake for your little one sooner than later. They grow up way to fast.

    Warmly,
