Tipsy Tuesday....Cupcake Stands!!

Today's Tipsy Tuesday is all about cupcake stands. :) Who doesn't love a good dessert stand, especially when its affordable right?!

I first made these for Bailey's Fancy Nancy birthday party. I loved the way they turned out. They made a great little throne for her birthday cupcakes to sit upon. :) I have received a few emails asking where I got them. And so, the secret is out...I made them. :)

And today I'm going to show y'all just how EASY (and cheap) they are to make. But the stands I'm creating today are a little twist on the first ones I made. Today I'm making pirate themed cupcake stands...

Ingredients include glue (hot glue or tacky glue), mini candle sticks, paint, and wooden decorative shapes.

These wooden decorations came from Hobby Lobby. You can find them at any craft store and there is usually a pretty good assortment. They were 67 cents a piece...the most expensive part of this project. I got these along with a few summer themed ones for some cupcakes I'm planning on making in a couple of weeks. :)

And here are the mini candle sticks, again found at Hobby Lobby in the unfinished wood section. I have also seen them at Michaels. They were $2.99 for a pack of 6. Not bad! (especially considering I bought mine with a 40% off coupon) :)

First step, paint your candle stick. Let it dry and then apply glue to the top of the candle stick. I chose hot glue for this project b/c it dries faster!

Flip it over and stick it to the bottom of the wooden decoration making sure the candle stick is in the middle.

Turn the candle stick over and you're DONE! That was easy right?!?!
And now you have cute little pirate themed cupcake stands!!!

The cost of each stand is about $1.16 each, less if you use a coupon for the candle sticks like I did.

Top off your cupcake stand with some cupcakes and VOILA, you have a cute little pirate themed dessert arrangement!!!

Aren't these cupcake toppers adorable?!!? Created by the ever so talented Amanda Parker of Shindig Parties To Go. Her printables are such a quick and easy way to dress up any party! Definitely check out her Etsy shop.

Cute right?

You like 'em????

Make 'em!

You know how now!!!! :)

Here Honey...want a cupcake!?!?!

Upon first look at these little cupcakes you'd think, those are cute...kinda pretty. Nice little cookie sitting on top. I like it....but no big deal...if your wife offered you one you'd say, "Sure honey, I'll take a cupcake".

Oh boy!?!? Oh wait...WHAAAT?!?!

What is this sweet little cupcake trying to tell me????

Hopefully if you're the recipient of this treat it fills you with joy. :)

And if you were wondering, yes, the sugar cookie is 100% edible!
(I'm having way to much fun with my new edible ink printer!!)

Tipsy Tuesday!!!

I pulled up my blog the other day and discovered I have 395 followers. 395 followers?!?!?! REALLY!? To some that may not seem like a lot, but to seems like a TON! WHY in the world would anyone want to follow my blog?? A blog with some pictures of some cakes...a party every now and then. I started feeling guilty about boring my poor 395 followers to death! So I have decided to add a little element of interest to keep y'all happy!! :)

And thats when I came up with TIPSY TUESDAY!!!! Every Tuesday this summer I will post a TIP...maybe a tutorial, a cute dessert idea, a fun craft tip, a party idea...any kind of sweet tip that I think y'all will enjoy.

My first Tipsy Tuesday has to do with GRADUATION! In honor of my sweet baby Bailey who graduated from preschool this past week I made some chocolate covered Oreos topped off with graduation caps. They're such a super easy dessert idea that anyone can do!

I was going to make a tutorial for the graduation caps when I came across basically the exact same idea demonstrated here. Great tutorial to show how easy these little graduation caps are!!!

And in case you're wondering how I got my chocolate Oreos so perfect...well, I'd like to say it was all me...I'm so super talented with chocolate...but that would be a lie. ;) You MUST check out these cookie molds!!! HERE I SO wish I had these for my Fancy Nancy party b/c my chocolate covered Oreos were a little sorry. These molds make it so easy to create these little desserts.

Congrats to all the graduates out there, big and small!!

Rapunzel Barbie Cake

This cake was created for Hannah who is turning 4 and celebrating with a Tangled/Rapunzel themed party. She wanted to incorporate her favorite Rapunzel doll so I built the cake around her. :) The dress is fondant and the bottom 8 inch is buttercream.

My BIG break!!!

Its been a very busy couple of weeks for me around here! Parties, a trip to Disney, lots of sweet treats, cakes and even instructing cooking classes.

Thats right, cooking classes! :) I'm so excited to share my experience with y'all!!!

This past week I taught my first cake class. :) :) It was at a local gathering for a number of very influential people in the community (14 to be exact) who are considering baking as a future career path...I was a little nervous as this was my first real gig teaching an audience how to decorate a cake, but it all went over pretty well. Turns out they loved me! And I even think I may have swayed a few to join the "Keep calm and bake on" career path!!!

Take a look!!

OK, OK...So the class was for a bunch of four and five year olds, but an audience is an audience, right?!!?! ;)

And they were a great one!! They listened well, were very behaved and seemed REALLY interested in what I was doing. (And I'm almost certain it had nothing to do with the fact that they were being bribed with ice cream cone cupcakes) Actually, now that I think about it....hmmmm?

Anyway, it was career day at Bailey's school and Mrs Tiffany asked if any parents would like to come in and demonstrate what they do in their jobs. OF COURSE!! I love to see my baby at school with all her sweet friends so I was all over this opportunity.

I brought in my bags of supplies and taught the kiddos how to make an ice cream themed cake. :)

My husband has been teasing me all day about the teeny tiny table I was sitting at!! LOL I look about as goofy as they come! :)

Aren't they SO cute looking on!? You gotta love preschoolers!!!!!

Once I was at a stopping point with my cake it was time to get the kids decorating! They were each given an unfrosted cupcake baked in an ice cream cone, icing, sprinkles, and a fondant cherry to top off their cupcake. They all did great and showed off their superior decorating skills! (alittle intimidating for me in fact...stay in school kids, I don't want the competition!)

My little Bailey girl hard at work...

Take a look at this one...step aside DC Cupcakes...Griffin's in the HOUSE!!

The kids were asked to come to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. Guess what my Bailey wants to be?!!?!?!!?
I'm so proud that my sweet girl wants to be just like me!

And WOW. She's gonna sell a lot of cakes with that face.

Get those kids in the kitchen y'all!!!

Safari First Birthday

Happy birthday to little Liam who is turning one! Tomorrow he is celebrating with a Safari Friends 1st birthday party. :)

His mama sent me the image below and wanted to design the cake around the party decor. I love the way these little fondant animals turned out!!!
